Kaagapay Solidarity Fund for Feminist Resilience
Kaagapay’ is a Filipino term which means to stand by one’s side or to go hand in hand in support. It signifies mutual care, respect, support, and trust.
This fund was launched as WFA’s COVID-19 response in 2020 and resources crisis response led by women, girls, trans, and intersex people as they respond to ongoing and new challenges faced by their communities, and uphold their human rights during emergencies and post-crisis interventions.
Kaagapay Solidarity Fund for Feminist Resilience seeks to respond to the increasingly volatile context facing the communities in Asia. WFA recognises that emergency response and recovery from crises is essential in sustaining and strengthening the gender justice movement. We are committed to resourcing the strategic efforts led by groups and organisations most deeply affected—those working on the frontlines as first responders during emergencies. The fund resources the most marginalised communities directly to mitigate the impact of emergencies on them, so that they can recover and continue working on transforming unjust systems.
Kaagapay fund are currently open to WFA partners.
WFA’s Emergency and Crisis Solidarity Strategy 2023-2025
Our strategy is designed to fund contingencies and bolster the resilience of women’s rights activists and groups dealing with unforeseen challenges inherent in the increasingly difficult landscapes they navigate. While WFA is not a rapid response grantmaker, our core focus is on sustaining and strengthening gender justice movements in Asia. We recognise that crises have a profound impact on movement-building, and when they do, we step in to provide critical support.
